1. Performance Against Water Vapor
Bathrooms generate a large amount of water vapor daily due to activities such as showering and washing. High-quality aluminum and PVC ceiling panels are non-absorbent, making it difficult for water vapor to penetrate the material, thus effectively preventing the ceiling from becoming damp and moldy. In actual use, the smooth surface of aluminum panels allows water droplets to quickly slide off, keeping the ceiling dry; while PVC panels, although also waterproof, may become slightly sticky due to prolonged dampness.
2. Handling Direct Water Splashes
In shower areas or areas near the sink, the panels may come into direct contact with water. The waterproofing properties of aluminum panels allow them to withstand occasional splashes without damage, but prolonged direct impact of water on the joints may cause the sealant to age, affecting the waterproofing effect. PVC panels perform slightly worse in similar situations; prolonged water splashing may cause surface discoloration or material aging.
3. Mold Resistance and Durability
High-quality aluminum ceiling panels usually have an anti-mold coating, effectively inhibiting mold growth, making them suitable for humid southern regions. While PVC panels can also prevent mold, their durability is slightly inferior to that of aluminum panels, and they may yellow or deform after 5-10 years of use. Waterproof gypsum board is prone to absorbing moisture in high humidity environments and requires regular inspection and maintenance.
